What competencies does the graduate have?
The curriculum in Information Technology Degree Programme aims at educating qualified ICT engineers, with skills required in international careers. Information Technology degree programmes develop students’ professional skills in a wide range of technologies needed in working life. These skills include, for example, software engineering, programming, database planning and management, web and mobile technologies, embedded systems, cloud and system architectures as well as user experience and user interfaces.
Universities of applied sciences have different profiles in their Information Technology degree programmes. Professional competencies include, for example, software engineering, communication technology, mobile solutions, health technology, media engineering, and smart IoT systems.
What kind of learning methods are used in the programme?
Studies are practical and meet the skills needs in working life. Various projects, practical assignments and laboratory work play a major role in learning. Studies also focus on building the so called soft-skills such as team working skills. Students can individually focus their studies on interesting subjects and deepen their skills during practical work placement.
What kind of career opportunities does the graduate have?
A graduate of information technology typically works in private or public sector, for example as a software developer or ICT expert in software development team, as a research engineer in product development designing systems with embedded intelligence, a solutions engineer designing networks, a cybersecurity solutions specialist or as a specialist in technical support, in customer service or in technical sales.
